FAQ

  • Where do you get the produce and ingredients?

Our first stop is always to the farms near us in the Durham Region. We stick to the harvest season for Southern Ontario. If we can’t find it we’ll head to the local Asian market and look for Produce of Canada, the closer the maker the better. Once we run out of something it’s out of stock until it’s back in season. We wrote a blog post about what GTA Asian markets we go to!

The honey used in our mustards is also sourced locally.

Ingredients like sugar, salt, mustards seeds and the oher spices we put in the jars come from bulk stores to sace on packaging and waste.

  • My favourite item in out of stock, what gives?

We are but two people, and if something is out of seasons we don’t make it again until it is back in season. You can always sign up to be emailed when it’s back in stock on that item’s product page.

  • Why can't I have my order shipped to me?

Friends, that would be so expensive. One day we will sort that all out, but until then you can find us at markets all over the GTA and Southern Ontario. Follow us on social media or sign up for the newsletter in the footer to be notified about upcoming events.

  • Best Before?

Best Before on our products mean if stored in the proper conditions your jar or pouch will keep your goods tasting great until that date at least. It is not necessarily an Expiry Date. This rule of thumb is based on what temperature and humidity they’re stored at. Ideally for the glass jars of pickles, sauces and condiments, you want a cool area with high humidity. If the humidity is too low, the liquid could evaporate and leave the contents exposed to air. Pouches you want a cool, dry place.

All glass jars are good in these conditions between 15-18 months of when they were made and are labeled as such. If you open it after the Best Before date and there’s no smell or mold, it’s very likely still good to eat! You can always email us a picture if you’re unsure. Refrigerate all glass jars once they have been opened! Pouches may remain in a pantry (cool, dry) environment.
